Job Title:  Business Development Consultant – Japanese Services

Reports to:  Director-Japanese Services

Job Purpose:

Marketing 3HR as the law firm of choice for Japanese companies based in the UK and Europe for Legal, HR, employee benefits, and expatriate medical insurance services. Maintain the company’s client base within the Japanese, European-based business community using a range of marketing tools including brochures, presentations, events and referrals. Day-to-day business will normally be conducted in the Japanese language in the context of a Japanese working culture.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • To become and remain fully conversant with 3HR’s full range of products and services

  • Account managing Japanese clients with a particular focus on strategic cross-selling of specialist professional services

  • To be aware of and act within all relevant compliance regimes applicable to the professional services offered by 3HR, including that operated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority

  • Work with 3HR’s solicitors and FCA authorised financial advisors regarding both the range of services and the level of consulting support required – a particular need to liaise closely with the Directors of the legal and financial consulting divisions of the business in this regard  

  • Responsibility for meetings with new contacts and prospects

  • To maintain and update relevant databases

  • Maintain written notes (in English) of clients / sales meetings and substantive telephone conversations

  • Provide a written weekly report on business activity together with above notes and recommendations regarding marketing and sales strategies to Director-Japanese Services

  • Carry out marketing activities to Japanese sector including translating 3HR’s newsletters, carrying out surveys and analysis of clients’ reactions to 3HR’s products and pricing

  • Arrange and deliver workshops and seminars for Japanese companies when required

  • To prepare client proposals

  • Control expenses within budget guidelines

  • Ensure that business is conducted ethically and professionally

Professional Qualifications & Minimum Relevant Experience

The holder of this position should be fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese, and educated to degree level or equivalent. Relevant sales experience as well as experience of working for/with international companies is essential. HR or Legal qualification will be an advantage.   

Key areas are:

  • University degree or equivalent

  • A proven ability to liaise and communicate confidently at board, director and MD level

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements

  • Good understanding of Japanese/Far Eastern working culture to enable effective and confident client interactions

  • Ability to organize events and work under pressure 

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other 3HR staff

  • High level of computer literacy in Microsoft, Excel, Word and Power-Point

  • A willingness to travel and work anywhere in the UK and Europe


Additional Job Details:

Location: London, EC2M 1NH

Status: Permanent full time position – 35 hours per week

Salary: Vary according to experience

Bonus: participation in bonus scheme after probation

Holiday: 25 days' holiday + bank holidays
